 The Non Profit Development Center of Southern New Jersey recognized the region’s top nonprofit leaders and organizations at its sixth annual Non Profit Organizations Awards Celebration and Dinner on March 13:

• NPO of the Year: UrbanPromise
• NPO Community Partner of the Year: Mark Godofsky, Surety Title
• NPO Advocate of the Year: Dr. Edward H. Salmon, chairman, Salmon Ventures, Ltd.
• NPO Young Professional of the Year: Reynold P. Cicalese III, CPA, Alloy Silverstein
• International Outreach Award: Pastor Kyle Horner, The Connect Church
• NPO Co-Executives of the Year: Valerie Traore, Food Bank of South Jersey; Roy Leitsetin, Legacy Treatment Services

The Cooper Foundation has received a $982,000 grant from the Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation to support the work of Cooper University Health Care’s Urban Health Institute. These funds will support a new initiative—Reducing Disparities in Cardiovascular Care through Optimization of Risk Factors in Vulnerable Populations—that will provide behavior change support, focus attention on social determinants of health, connect patients to community resources and enhance medication adherence with the help of an interdisciplinary team.

 Jeffrey Schneider, president of Strategic Funding Alternatives of Moorestown, announced the acquisition of two properties in Cherry Hill—900 N. Kings Highway, a professional office space with 30,123 total square feet and 900 N. Kings Highway with 65,700 total square feet.

Sciacca’s Upholstering & Design Center, headquartered in Delran, announced the acquisition of the upholstery assets of Christine Marine of Orlando, Fla. They have launched their new subsidiary, C & S Marine, which is the sole licensed global provider for upholstery skins for Correct Craft/Nautique boats.

The Organization of Nurse Leaders of New Jersey (ONL NJ) hosted its Nursing Workplace Environment and Staffing Council Pilot Program Feb. 23 with 130 attendees from nine hospitals, including Jefferson Health New Jersey Division and Lourdes Health System. Created by ONL NJ’s Advocacy Committee, this pilot program addresses the needs of a nurse’s workplace environment and gives a respected voice to staff nurses in the establishment of safe practice environments.

The Medical Society of New Jersey, the New Jersey Hospital Association and the New Jersey Association of Health Plans have announced the next cohort for their jointly sponsored New Jersey Healthcare Executive Leadership Academy. Some of the members of the 2018 cohort include:
