Non Profit Development Center of Southern New Jersey (NPDCSNJ) and South Jersey Biz partner to recognize the region’s top nonprofit leaders and organizations.
The Non Profit Development Center of Southern New Jersey will host its sixth annual Non Profit Organizations Awards Celebration & Dinner on March 7 from 5-7:30 p.m. at Adelphia Restaurant in Deptford. Tickets cost $50 and can be purchased at NPDCSNJ.org.
The event will recognize South Jersey’s nonprofit leaders and organizations in the following categories:
• NPO Chairman of the Year
• NPO Trustee of the Year
• NPO Executive of the Year
• NPO of the Year
• NPO Community Partners of the Year
• NPO Advocates of the Year
• NPO Young Professional of the Year
• Best Collaborative Effort
• Chairman’s Award (Lifetime Achievement)
Nominations should be sent to NPDCSNJ President Wanda Hardy at WPHardy@FinancialWellnessInstitute.org and will be accepted until Feb. 7. All winners will receive a stipend of $250 for the charity of their choice.
Thanks to a $3.25 million grant from the Affordable Housing Program, new affordable-housing units are on the building horizon. The Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey will receive $1.58 million to build homes in Cherry Hill for senior citizens and those with developmental disabilities, while $1.67 million will go toward Project Freedom Incorporated in Gibbsboro for homes for the physically disabled. This money will provide for the building of 150 low-income homes in total.
The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) provided New Jersey with a $9.5 million federal grant to accelerate the installation of electric-vehicle charging stations at workplaces across the state. The USDOT is also expected to provide money to help reduce diesel emissions from passenger ferries and refrigerated trucks unloading and loading shipments at idle.
Inspira Medical Center in Vineland is expanding its outpatient wing by adding two stories. The 56,000-square-foot expansion is expected to be complete in late 2018 and will cost $34 million.
Burlington Kia was recently named as the “#1 Service Department” by its Kia Motors customers out of all of the locations in the Philadelphia, Delaware and South Jersey areas.
Wohlsen Construction Company recently received a first-place Award of Excellence for the new senior living community: Brandywine at Livingston, an Award of Merit for the additions and renovations to Universal Health Services’ Hampton Behavioral Health and a Gold-Level STEP Certificate for their safety achievements. Virtua Memorial in Burlington County and
Virtua Voorhees have been awarded the Blue Distinction Designation for Maternity Care from the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association. The Blue Distinction Specialty Care Program is a national designation program recognizing health care facilities that demonstrate expertise in delivering specialty care safely, effectively and costefficiently.
OceanFirst Bank recently announced a commitment to increase the bank’s minimum hourly pay rate to $15 within 30 days of the enactment of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which has been approved by Congress and is expected to be signed into law in the near future.
Rowan University’s Board of Trustees committed $50 million over 10 years to significantly enhance medical and bioscience research at the Cooper Medical School of Rowan University in Camden.
The Gloucester County Boys and Girls Club will receive state funding to support programs that aid low-income and at-risk youth. The funding is part of a $50,000 award granted to the New Jersey Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs, Inc., from the Department of Community Affairs’ Community Services Block Grant-Special Initiatives program.
